Garner Independence Day Celebration

Join us for an evening of fun for the whole family featuring a performance by the North Carolina Symphony.
Your children will love our Kids Adventure Zone featuring inflatables, games and crafts. Bring a picnic, or enjoy delicious concessions provided by food trucks and local non-profit organizations. Top off your evening with the best fireworks show in the Triangle, and you'll see why our citizens are so proud of their hometown.


Fireworks immediately follow the NC Symphony performance (approximately 9:30 pm)


Schedule of Events

  • 5:00 pm - Park opens.  Kids Zone & Food Vendors open, Veterans Memorial tours begin.

  • 5:30 pm - The Chairmen of the Board

  • 7:30 pm - Veterans Memorial tours end.

  • 8:00 pm - Mayor's Presentation

  • 8:30 pm - NC Symphony performance, Kids Zone closes.


Picnics, cooler and beach umbrellas are welcome!

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment, the following items are prohibited at Town-sponsored events.

  • Alcoholic Beverages, Glass Containers, Grills,  Drones, Fireworks/Sparklers, Pets, Tailgating

  • Umbrellas must be lowered for NC Symphony performance and fireworks.

  • For the purpose of public safety, the Town of Garner does not allow guest to bring pets to any Town-sponsored special events. Exceptions apply for trained service animals. Please note the Lake Benson Dog Park will be closed on July 3.

Road Closures

The Garner Police Department will close Buffaloe Road (between Aversboro Road and Highway 50) on July 3 at 5:00 pm to all through traffic.  Area residents will be permitted to gain access to their homes with a resident pass.  At approximately 8:45 pm, Garner Police will close Aversboro Road at Timber Drive to all southbound traffic to prepare for the firework display.


Shuttle Service

Shuttle service for the July 3 celebration is free and will begin at 5:00 pm. Shuttle parking will be available at South Garner High School. Shuttles will operate continuously from the high school to Lake Benson Park until 9:15 pm. Return services from Lake Benson Park to the high school will resume at the conclusion of the fireworks and operate until all guest have exited the park. 


Accessible Parking

Limited accessible parking is available at Lake Benson Park.  Please show your handicap placard to the parking attendants on site and you will be directed to the handicap parking area.  Availability is first-come first-served.  Please note, once parked, access to the event will be dirt, grass and gravel with a slight incline.
